Styles, Styles, Styles

SO! Today I decided to try out a new technique i read up online of post processing photos to give them that contrasty darky nitty gritty look, so here ive posted three versions of the photo (the first beeing hte original and the other two variations of the effect). If ever there was an ideal time for all you readers out there to leave comment, this would be the one. Please tell me what you think of the photos, and the different versions, which you prefer and why! PLEAAAAASE! any and all input is VERY MUCH appreciated! thanks!

La Cabalgata, The Three Kings Procession

As I mentioned in an Earlier post recently all over Spain, there were processions, celebrating the day the three kings brought baby jesus gifts. On this day is also when gifts are usually exchanged in Spain as oposed to xmas. Fortunately this year I was able to attend the processions in Spain and thus here are a few pics. Im sorry if they seem a bit few but its 4 am! lol more will be posted later on in the day :)

Inspirational Lighting!

So as i was reading through my daily blogs, i read one particular post which has inspired me to try a new lighting technique! :D. When i read the blog i think the writer was doing it out of fun, however it has inspired me to take it on a more serious aproach! I have no idea how the images will turn out, they may be all cool and funky...or they may just look quite normal, i have no idea! Thus i will shortly be experimenting this experiment so look forward to pictures soon! :D. Thats all im going to say for now lest my idea be stolen or borrowed and my initiative of surprise be taken from me!

On a side note, I would also like to mention the creation of another blog, The Vegetarian Student (yes yes i can imagine some of you who know me shall laugh at the mention of this). The I was inspired to create this blog this morning as I toiled away in the kitchen learning new recipes to take back with me to London and university so that i may survive on my own for another few months. And thus as i was taught in the kitchen the extent of my ignorance in such an environment struck me! Ive always enjoyed cooking but never had any idea how, or been able to find simple or easy to manage resources to help me do so. Upon realizing this, I decided i would take my teachings and share them with you all! Lest another poor student find himself in such a position. And yes there ARE plenty of great resources out there on the web, but many of them are for the housewife or the well equiped kitchen, and lots of the simpler ones deal with meat! And for a vegetarian like me its a big no no! So! ladies and gentlemen may I introduce to you The Vegetarian Student!

Loughborough All Over again

Hello Ladies and gentlemen, i would like to present to you the last remaining pictures of my weekend in loughborough, it was only a few so most of them are here, but the rest can as usual be viewed on my flickr. On another note Thursday marks my return to London, and thus uni. Hopefully I will be able to keep up the habit of daily, or almost daily blogposts, even if i cant keep up with the photos (which once again I hopefully shall). I have a couple of projects already on the horizon ready for me to tackle (which means if i hope to keep up to date i need to get my India pics online ASAP). The projects include a cementary photowalk, and one, possibly two studio shoots (if youre interested in modelling leave me a message! london area only please!) in the comming week, and deffinately more as the year progresses as after some brainstorming my partner and myself have come up with some fashion oriented shoots :). Well enough blabbing on my part, here are some pictures to enjoy! :D

A weekend in Loughborough

So a few weeks ago i made a trip to loughborough to visit my cousins and of course i took advantage and took loads of family pics! :D but also took several of the beautifull scenery out there. Theres not really much for me to say about it, and as they say a picture makes a thousand words, specially more so a photograph, so i shall let them do the talking. As usual they are available on my flickr

An important Difference! Canon Eos 350D/400D vs Canon 30D/40D

For today's blog post i thought i would outline a crucially important difference between the Canon Eos 350D and its predecessor the 400D range of DSLR's and the Canon Eos 30D and its own predecessor the 40D. When i was first getting into SLR's and DSLR's I made the grave mistake of opting for a 350D when I had the option of getting a 30D ( i wanted to save the difference for my ultimate upgrade to a 5D), thinking that the only real difference between the camera was autofocus points, size, speed, and Megapixel count. Little did I know (and a few review sites forgot to mention) that there was indeed an extremly vital importance between the two Camera ranges, very much in the same way that the difference between the 5D and its younger cousins is that it has a full frame chip, as opossed to a cropped one. The important jump from the entry level Dslr's to the 30/40D is that the Entry level camera's do not possess a shutter! Yes thats right, they lack a shutter. Now if you are wondering how the heck does it take the pictures, well the entry level cameras, instead of having a real shutter installed, they emulate the effect of a shutter by quickly activating parts of the sensor chip to simulate as if it was a shutter going past recording the image bit by bit. Now if you dont know the effect that this has on your image, think about when you turn your tv on, particularly the old projector tv's theres always a moment of static/noise before you get a clear image. In the same way that as a camera chip is activated it creates a certain ammount of digital noise which is of course shown in the picture. The advantage of having a real shutter is that the chip is always on, so the initial static has already dispersed and the chip simply records the light that is let thru by the shutter. :)

Just a little bit of random camera knowledge for all those looking to invest or upgrade in a DSLR, or who simply just didnt know. and for those who were eagerly hoping for some images to be put up today, dont worry this is not the last post of the day, i will have some up (hopefully) by the end of today so just keep checking back, or just suscribe to my RSS and be notified! :D (the atom feed is available at the bottom of the page...should really set up an anchor link for that)
